About Us
Buy Income Property was created for two reasons. First and foremost, it was created to help people looking to invest in real estate for the first time. But also, it was created to help me organize and communicate my thoughts and values of real estate investing. Indeed, when I bought my first property about five years ago I was confused and needed help. Once I set my mind on it, I learned how to begin investing by taking Carleton Sheets course, and then by just doing it myself. Although the course was helpful, the hard part about real estate investing is just doing everything for the first time. Once you get your feet wet and build a simple understanding of real estate, each additional transaction is easier and usually more profitable. In case you're wondering who is writing the content on this site, here are my credentials: I have a degree from the University of Wisconsin (Go Badgers!) in Finance and Investments. I have 7 years of Wall Street experience at four different investment firms. I have experience in computers, the Internet, the mortgage industry, and as several roles as a financial analyst. I have invested in real estate and been a landlord in one of the toughest markets (San Francisco) and I hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. I am currently moving from the Bay Area to Madison, Wisconsin to focus entirely on real estate, so if you're ever in the neighborhood give me a call. Also, if you want to ask me a question.
